{"id":3407,"date":"2020-12-19T13:17:30","date_gmt":"2020-12-19T13:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peoriamag.com\/?p=3407"},"modified":"2020-12-20T13:47:50","modified_gmt":"2020-12-20T13:47:50","slug":"senate-passes-covid-19-state-funding-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peoriamag.com\/?p=3407","title":{"rendered":"Senate passes COVID-19 state funding bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LANSING, Mich. &#8211; The Senate COVID-19 relief bill, <u>Senate Bill 748<\/u>, has passed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The bill will provide $465 million in state and federal funding for Michigan health care workers as well as help with increased testing capacity and vaccine distribution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to Michigan Senate officials, the Senate Republican relief plan includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list | article-list\">\n<li>$220 million to extend unemployment benefits until April 1, 2021;<\/li>\n<li>$79.1 million to expand virus testing and vaccine distribution, including funds to ramp up testing of teachers to ensure healthy school communities;<\/li>\n<li>$115.3 million to hospitals and nursing homes to address nursing shortages, including an extension of the pay increase for direct care workers;<\/li>\n<li>$45 million in Employee Assistance Grants to restaurant and other workers laid off or furloughed due to Gov.
