Peoria police launch traffic enforcement campaign targeting speeders and red-light runners across the city

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Police Department is conducting another traffic enforcement campaign targeting speeding, red-light violations and other dangerous driving behaviors throughout the city.

Police said officers are actively monitoring roadways and looking for drivers who violate traffic laws, urging motorists to slow down, obey traffic signals and remain alert behind the wheel.

The department emphasized that speeding and running red lights can put drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other road users at risk. Officers are also watching for other traffic violations as part of the effort to improve roadway safety.

“Speeding? We’re watching,” the department warned in a social media post, adding that running red lights is not worth the risk.

Police said the goal of the campaign is to make streets safer for everyone and encouraged drivers to follow traffic laws and make responsible decisions.

The department did not specify how long the enforcement campaign will last or whether additional patrols will focus on particular areas of Peoria.
